This unique ‘Off the Loom’ textile handwoven by textile artist and printmaker Tadek Beutlich MBE was bought by my mother Fay who was Tadek’s studio manager and assistant during his years at Gospels in Ditchling.
It was chosen by my mother after Ellen Beutlich told me that this was the one piece that Tadek always had hanging in his studio, wherever he moved. Fay remained lifelong friends with Tadek and Ellen from the time they met in 1967. Sadly in 2023 both my mother Fay and Ellen passed away within a few months of each other.
It is esparto grass wrapped with wool and is called 'Grotesque Figures'. Size of textile 58cm high by 38cm wide excluding hanging piece.
